On The Path to Success

I'm currently reading Paper Towns; if i finish this book, I will reached my reading goal. Books never really fit my interest so I rarely read. I chose this book because I have seen the movie so thought why not. Knowing the base of the story makes it easier for me to achieve my goal.

Paper Towns by John Green is about a high school senior named Quentin who is in love with his neighbor, Margo, who is very popular at their school. Margo has ran away and it Quentin and some friends job to find her. The group travel throughout the state based on clues she has left behind.

Through the quest, friendships have been tested. The message i received from this book is that you have to place yourself in others shoes to understand them. Q says "To find Margo Roth Spiegelman, you must become Margo Roth Spiegelman." ( Green, 226)

The Next Step

A previous goal of mine has been to actually read a book from beginning to end without abandoning it. I have achieved my goal of reading two books this school year. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the AP book that helped me accomplish my goal.

The novel is about the adventures of a young white boy and a black slave trying to escape, and is also a banned book. The two go on a journey to find freedom and go through man obstacles on the way.  The book wasn't a struggle for me which i enjoyed and what made me want to actually read it is that it's banned.

Achieving the Unachievable

In the early years of my life I would read books constantly. At times, I would even go above and beyond my grade level but now reading is a whole different story. Not many books satisfy or interest me... kind of like people. I have to force myself to read a book. I'm not very attentive when reading because either the book is lengthy or dull. Whenever I find a book of interest, I actually pay attention and read as much as I can in a short amount of time.

My goal I've set for myself is a high number for me but very low number in general. Two books read by the end of this school year would be an accomplishment. I haven't reached my goal yet but will very soon after reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain. I had chosen this book for this 9 weeks because I have read it before and actually enjoy the story. Reading the novel again has made me realized things I've missed previously.
